Remembering God

By Samantha Burgoyne

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Sometimes we can look at scripture and see the miracles that Jesus performed as the past and forget that these incredible experiences still happen today. When we go through trials of our own, we forget the times that Jesus has got us through.

This verse really reminds me of who Jesus Christ is. He has done so much for me in the past so why would I then worry about the future? With a God that remains the same we have our promises fulfilled.

David didn’t forget the God that saved him and therefore trusted Him to take on this challenge.”

God never changes but He continues to change me. I keep evolving into the person God sees me as, even when I can’t. He knows the future He has for me and is preparing me for the opportunities, challenges and moments He wants me to be part of. God hasn’t changed from the God that created man. Even then God wanted a relationship with us, speaking directly to us and giving us a purpose. To have this relationship with God we need to allow Him into our life, to have time with God and let the Spirit lead us.

This is exactly what David did. God prepared David for the battle with Goliath; David fought against both bears and lions to protect his sheep and he had faith in God because, he said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” David didn’t forget the God that saved him and therefore trusted Him to take on this challenge. David grew in his relationship with God, with a dependency on Him, he did not rely on this own strength but in God. Trusting in God isn’t knowing He can but He will, otherwise David would never have gone through with this.

Let us now remember our King, the one who doesn’t change but instead continues to bless, guide and love us without ceasing. When we next go through trials and adversity let’s choose to turn to our God and not to worry because we know our God will take us through.
