God Chooses Restoration

By Morgan Scott

“Then the nations around you that remain will know that I the Lord have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it.” (Ezekiel 36:36)

Things weren’t looking too good for the Israelites. Because of their sins and rebellion against God, the unthinkable happened – Jerusalem was destroyed. Their home was turned into a wasteland, and as it says in Ezekiel 36, they were attacked on every side, mocked and made fun of by other nations.  Needless to say, things seemed pretty hopeless for God’s chosen people.

But the story doesn’t end there.

God comes and offers hope to the Israelites, promising to rebuild what was destroyed. Despite their rebellion against him, God has mercy on them and offers them a fresh start!

The Israelites didn’t choose God, but God chose them. They rebelled against God, but God loved them through it.”

God rebuilt what was destroyed and blessed them with even more than they had before.

And the best part is, the same God who restored Israel is able to restore the brokenness in our lives today. Just like the Israelites, we don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love. God offers us a fresh start whenever we turn to Him.

What do you need God to restore in your life today?
