Interview with Meg, Accounts & Events Coordinator

By Fin Sheridan

To help you get to know the faces behind the ministry, CBN READ has been interviewing the people who serve here at CBN Europe. We sat down with Meg, the Accounts and Events Coordinator to find out what life is like for her.

What’s your role here at CBN involve?

So I have 3 roles: Accounts, Events and HR. With Accounts, I manage donations to make sure that we’re stewarding our money well. That looks like integrating payment systems, doing the banking – and basically all the other stuff to do with giving.

I have my HR role – doing new staff inductions, policies, holidays, sick leave, all that sort of thing!

And then finally, I manage Events which involves organising and putting on events for our partners.

What do you enjoy most about that?

I really like the variation because I get to see all the different areas – all which interest and challenge me. It’s great to be using what I feel like my giftings are. I get to combine crunching the numbers with making an event pretty while working with an incredible team. I really enjoy the variety of all this.

Here’s a confession: I’m a bit of a maths geek. Spreadsheets are my favourite thing. I’m not even joking. I love solving problems and spreadsheets help me do that.

“We couldn’t do what we do without our partners daily generosity!”

So, do you manage all your friends money then?

*laughs nervously* Well, I try not to force it in their faces but I do help my housemates sometimes..

Why did you want to work at CBN?

It marries up my calling and vision to reach people. I get to use the skills that God has given me, in a way that I’m passionate about.

What’s your dream Saturday?

I’d have a big sleep-in, for as late as I can. Then I’d go to the zoo because I love giraffes. I have an obsession with them. Giraffes and spreadsheets. Imagine if giraffes could do maths. That’d be incredible. Then finish off with some Italian food.

Why should someone become a CBN partner?

Our partners are helping fulfill the Great Commission that Jesus gives to us in Matthew 28 – to go into all the world and tell them about Jesus. We couldn’t do what we do without their daily generosity!

Prince of Peace
