What Will I See When I Die?

By Fin Sheridan

Hillsong Worship’s latest album, “let there be light.” has been one of their most impacting offerings to date. From the hymnal ‘Behold (Then Sings My Soul)’ to “What A Beautiful Name” which is taking its rightful place amongst the best songs they’ve ever produced, the songs are dynamic and fresh. As with most Hillsong albums, there is a live album and they’ve released several of the videos online.

They recently released the video for “Grace To Grace”, the 9th track on the album. It’s a firm favourite here at the CBN Europe offices, not least because of Taya Smith’s killer vocals. You can check it out below.

“When you and I graduate to glory, we will experience Jesus in fuller, closer, more real ways than ever before.”

For me , some of the most impacting lyrics are in the bridge:

“When I see that cross, I see freedom

When I see that grave, I’ll see Jesus

And from death to life, I will sing Your praise

In the wonder of Your grace!”

We don’t know huge amounts of what heaven will actually be like. The Bible is rich with metaphor and symbolism but there’s not a Leviticus style breakdown of what exactly will happen when we die. It’s a bit gutting that we’ve got a step by step description for the offerings at the Tabernacle’s Consecration but no moment by moment of what happens when we pass on from this life.

As Christians, what we do know is this: we see the grave, we’ll see Jesus. We might not have the details but we know the centrepiece. When you and I graduate to glory, we will experience Jesus in fuller, closer, more real ways than ever before. His beauty will be more vivid. His presence, more present. We may not know much, but we can know that. We’ll move from grace in this life, to greater grace in the next.

Everlasting Father
