When “Go!” Means “Stay!”

By Fin Sheridan

But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.

When I was younger, I used to love reading books about missionaries, people who had gone somewhere to tell others about the gospel. In my young imagination, I walked alongside David Livingstone as he cut through the wilds of Africa. I watched Jackie Pullinger as she helped gang members and heroin addicts in Hong Kong. I marvelled at the bravery of David Wilkerson, in the rough ghettos of New York.

The Gospel has always needed someone to “go”. To go to unreached peoples. To go to the roughest cities, the wildest regions, the furthest corners. The Great Commission, in Matthew 28, begins with the command of Jesus to “Go!”. The Gospel is a travelling, moving force.

But going doesn’t always look like leaving the shores of our native country. Your workplace might be your Africa. The school run is your mission field. Your neighbour needs to hear the good news too. Sometimes “going” means “staying”.

Our mission is for “there” but it’s also for “here”

As well as reaching across the world, CBN Europe also is committed to stay, to reach the United Kingdom, from Lands End to John O’Groats. We have a vision for content that is created right here in the UK, relevant to the lives of British people. We want to impact mainland Europe in new and creative ways. Our mission is for “there” but it’s also for “here”.

We are in the process of developing a studio, ready to produce TV and online content that will bring the gospel into millions of homes across the UK. To do this to the highest standard, we have to invest finances. We couldn’t do this without the generosity of CBN Partners.

Perhaps this is something that is close to your heart? Why not join with us in partnership?
