Going to grandma’s house for dinner was becoming a habit for Ahmue and her kids.  They went because they were starving. Ahmue makes crafts to sell at the market but her tiny business doesn’t even pay for food.  Then, just before her husband went to jail on a drug charge, Ahmue learned she was pregnant.

“My parents have been so supportive,” Ahmue told CBN. “They don’t have much but they share it with us.  I know they have lots of bills to pay, too.”

“She’s under a lot of stress,” said Orathai, Ahmue’s 13-year-old daughter. “I do chores and look after my brother to help out.”

During the last months of her pregnancy, Ahmue could barely walk to the market.  And her craft supplies ran out.  So CBN’s Orphan’s Promise helped in two ways. First, we re-stocked the craft supplies for her business.

Then when the baby was born, Orphan’s Promise covered hospital costs for the delivery–about £150.  Finally, we gave Ahmue some formula and supplies for her newborn son.

“We were in a very difficult season of our life, and Orphan’s Promise came just in time for us!” said the grateful mother.

Today, “the newborn” is now a toddler and he is doing well.  Ahmue’s business continues to grow thanks to contracts with local stores.  And occasionally, they even invite the grandparents to their house for dinner!

“We always have food to eat!” said Orathai. “We used to depend on my grandparents all the time. I’m so glad that now, we can help them!”
