DAILY DEVOTION

COME TO THE WATERS

Charmaine Hibberd

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters… Isaiah 55 v 1 NIV

I am very excited.

Next weekend we have my church’s annual conference and it always proves to be mind blowing. New information is communicated on the direction of the church and fresh vision is shared for the season ahead.

It’s a very powerful time. However, the most profound aspect for me is when God meets with me, personally.

Amongst the announcements, God drops revelations and insight into my heart and these nuggets of wisdom inspire me for months.

Prior to our annual church conference, we are encouraged by our leaders to take some time out with God and prepare our hearts for what He might want to share with us. We are encouraged to seek him and ask him to speak to us clearly and profoundly.

To be honest, I can get myself into quite a state asking God, sometimes begging him, to speak to me during the conference because I am so keen to hear what he has to say to me. I think that hunger is a good thing, but what is not necessary is my posture of begging God desperately to speak to me.

A friend of mine turned my attention to Isaiah 55:1 where God says: ‘Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters…’ She reminded me that God does not want me to beg him to meet with me; He is the one inviting me to be with Him. I do not have to beg and grovel to God for a word from his mouth, he is keen and eager to meet with me and speak.

This has released me massively as I go into one of the most profound weekends of my church year as I now have a posture of being welcomed into his presence. God is a speaking God, and He is good.

Thank you God that you speak to us, we are hanging on your every word. Lord, thank you for inviting me into your presence and for sharing with me steps and revelations for my life. I am excited to meet with you Lord, have your way in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
