“While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him a second time: “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege ramps and the sword.” Jeremiah 33:1-4

God loves to interact with His people. There are literally hundreds of verses where God asks us to talk to him; inviting us to come into deeper relationship with him and hear his voice more. In the verse today, we read that Jeremiah was “confined in the courtyard of the guard”.

What’s that mean? It means he was in prison. Arrested. Not able to go anywhere or progress, due to the circumstances around him. But what happened? God spoke to Him and invites Jeremiah to begin calling to Him, promising that He will answer Him.

God’s intention is for us to live in conversation with Him; whether we’re in prisons or palaces.

Sometimes we get so preoccupied with the circumstances we’re in that we miss that God is going to use them to speak to us. Jeremiah wasn’t able to go anywhere else and maybe, just maybe, that’s exactly where God wanted him. We can often bombard God with our requests and that’s totally a part of life with Jesus. Today though, in all your circumstances, be encouraged that God ultimately is inviting you into INTERACTION with Him, not just TRANSACTION.
