DAILY DEVOTION

THE WAY

By Charmaine Hibberd

‘How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word.’ Psalm 119:9 – MSG

Psalm 119 is my favourite Psalm.

It is full of David’s praises to God for the most wonderful gift that He has left us – His Word. I am a big fan of books and love to read all kinds of books, but my favourite has to be the Bible. It is the most epic, truth-filled, complex book I have ever read and I never tire of finding new verses and meanings behind the words.

David makes a very poignant statement in Psalm 119, in the Message version.

He calls the Word of God, the Bible, a map.

I think it’s fair to say that we all want to understand life and living a little better, where we are going, how we are going to get there and when we are going to get there!

The Message translates David’s words as saying that we can live a clean life by simply following the map of God’s Word.

The Bible gives us instruction when it comes to love, money, relationships, health and work, to name a few life topics. Why would we not consider what God has to say about these areas of life before we attempt to navigate them ourselves?

My point in writing is to admonish you to not neglect the Word of God. In its pages you will find all of the truth that you need for living a steadfast and pure life.

Consider it’s persuasions and take to heart its advice, it will serve you well and never fail you as you walk through this life.
