The Anger is Gone From My Heart: Miguel’s Story
Miguel was so angry all the time, going without food, money and school supplies was a constant frustration for him. Then one day CBN’s Orphan’s Promise stepped into his life, giving him more than he could ever hope for.
Miguel’s home used to be a battlefield on a daily basis. He always seemed to be angry at his mum about food.
“It was bad, it was sad,” recalled Miguel. “We didn’t have anything,” he added with an embarrassed, downcast look, “No food, money or school supplies.”
His mum, Karina, is a single parent who struggled to find work after her husband abandoned them.
“I’ve been trying to get a job,” she said. “I want to give them food and what they need. I felt so powerless.”
At school, Miguel relied on his friends for help. They knew how hungry he was.
“They would give me some of their food, but I kept some of it for my siblings at home. I knew they were hungry too.”
“Thank you Orphan’s Promise for all the good things you gave me and for teaching me about God.”
One day, Miguel was invited to a centre near his home sponsored by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise.
There Miguel and his siblings receive free breakfasts and lunches and they have a chance to learn about the Bible through CBN’s Superbook.
“My favourite episode is “In the Beginning,” said a beaming Miguel. “It taught me to respect my mum, to obey her and be responsible. It changed my heart.”
After visiting the centre only a few times Miguel prayed to become a Christian.
“I feel free because Jesus forgave me!” Miguel said. “And the anger is gone from my heart. I also pray for my mum and ask her to help me memorise Bible verses. She thought she was helping me to study the Bible, but the truth is, I am helping her to know God!”
One day Miguel’s mum visited the centre and prayed to become a Christian too.
“My life also changed, it’s not what it was before. I also found a good job. I am learning to be a good mum,” said Karina with a smile.
“Thank you Orphan’s Promise for all the good things you gave me and for teaching me about God. And thanks for helping other kids like me!” added Miguel.
