1. Why are you getting married?
2. Why is your partner wanting to get married?
3. Do we generally Agree or Disagree on:
- Children – How many – How to discipline – Type of school?
- Sexual Relationship
- Finances – who handles, who decides what to spend money on?
- Do we have a budget?
- What about parents, where do they live, what influence will they be able to have on our family, relationship, children, finances, etc.?
- What are my parent’s views of marriage? What are my partner’s parent’s views of marriage? Note. You will usually bring the same concepts into your marriage that your parents have.
- How are we going to work through the differences?
CHOOSING A LIFE PARTNER
Am I In The Will Of God? Colossians 3:15
- “Equal Yoking”
- Are you a Christian?
- Am I and is my partner willing to live for God’s Purposes in our lives and family?
- Is my partner teachable?
- Am I teachable?
- Will we follow Biblical methods of problem solving?
MARRIAGE IS A DIVINE INSTITUTION –

A LIFETIME COMMITMENT TO A COVENANT RELATIONSHIP –
- Acceptance: Person not perfect, check views of marriage, differences in opinion.
- Commitment.
- Perseverance.
DEFINITION OF A GOOD MARRIAGE:
- Love is more than physical.
- Happy with relationship.
- Quality of perseverance.
- Aware of emotional needs about sexual adjustments.
- Personalities – compliment even though differences.
- Share major goals and values and morals, yet willing to be changeable.
- Communicate without restriction in ALL areas.
- Respect privacy and allow separate identity, yet dependent upon each other.
- Spiritual qualities, Spirit Soul and Body.
