Afraid to go outside: Omolemo’s Story
After witnessing a traumatic attack, Omolemo was afraid to step outside his front door. His parents thought that his emotional scars would never heal until a life-changing solution presented itself. Read on to find out how CBN partners around the world are making a difference.
Like many boys his age, 7-year-old Omolemo loves to play outside. But one day he witnessed something terrible.
“I was playing and I saw two men chasing someone with a knife,” Omolemo recalled. “I heard one of them say to the man, ‘I am going to get you!’ They grabbed him and beat him, then stabbed him in the back of the head. I was so scared.”
Omolemo ran away. While an ambulance came to take the man to the hospital, Omolemo hid inside his house, waiting for his mum to come home from work.
“After that, I didn’t want to go outside anymore,” Omolemo said. “I thought someone would try to kill me too.”
“I thank God for the family He gave me here. Thank you CBN.”
Omolemo was invited to attend Dayspring Children’s Village, which is supported by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise. He made so many friends here, he’s no longer afraid to play outside.
“I like playing with the other children. I feel safe and happy,” says Omolemo. “I sleep so well during nap time. And I’m not scared anymore, because I learned that no matter what happens, God is with me.”
Omolemo gets good meals, and also attends school here.
“It makes me happy to see my teachers. I love them and I know they love me. They teach me about Jesus, and I know He loves me, too,” says Omolemo. “I thank God for the family He gave me here. Thank you CBN.”
