Struggling For Food: Renzel’s Story
Despite their best efforts, Renzel’s grandparents were struggling to take care of him. Then CBN’s Orphan’s Promise stepped in, and gave Renzel – and his grandparents – the care they needed. Donate now and help to transform lives all over the UK, Europe and parts of Africa.
4-year-old Renzel knows exactly how to cheer up his grandma after a hard day’s work.
“When she is tired I wipe her face,” said the young boy while demonstrating.
Nita has been raising her grandson since he was one year old, after his father died and his mother abandoned him. Grandma gives Renzel all the love he needs but most days she can’t give him enough to eat.
“He has very little energy,” added Grandma Nita.
Every morning, Grandpa Rico returns from fishing with squid to sell. On a good day, they earn about four dollars. On other days they may only earn enough for a little rice.
“Thank you so much for all the help you’ve given us!”
Then Nita heard about CBN’s Orphan’s Promise.
Working through a church, we provide lunch for Renzel and other needy children in the community.
“Vegetables are good for my eyes,” Renzel told us with pride.
We also gave Renzel vitamins and regular medical check-ups.
“He has gained weight and has more energy,” said Grandma. “His skin looks better too.”
Finally to help the grandparents bring in a little extra income, we gave them a piglet to raise and sell.
“Once it is grown,” she said, “We’ll sell it and buy 2 more to save for our grandson’s future!
Thank you so much for all the help you’ve given us!”
