Sowing the SEED of hope in Chomoni

Through partners and donor support, CBN’s Orphan’s Promise has continued to provide for families and communities in Ukraine despite the ongoing difficulties faced in the region.

Through our SEED (Something to Eat Every Day) initiative, we are not only providing solutions to the immediate need but giving the opportunity for the community, in this case, a Roma camp in the West of Ukraine, to grow a sustainable source of income for the future.

From truck to transformation

Chomoni – a village in Ukraine with a significant need particularly among the Roma community – has experienced the positive impact of the SEED initiative.

Korchi, the SEED coordinator for Ukraine, says: “God is always thinking about us, and never forgets us and never forgets the poor people and also those who are in need.”

Recently, through the support of Orphan’s Promise partners, a truck arrived in Chomoni, carrying 2 tonnes of potatoes for immediate consumption and an additional 10 tonnes for planting in the fields, preparing for the upcoming winter season.

This gesture holds immense significance, especially considering the obstacles the Roma people face due to difficult transportation routes consisting mainly of mud tracks.

Longterm Support

The SEED initiative goes beyond providing short-term relief; it empowers communities like Chomoni to build a sustainable future. The heart of CBN’s Orphan’s Promise is to take people from at-risk to thriving by equipping the community with the resources and knowledge needed to grow and harvest crops that can be sold or used to generate income. This approach not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters self-sufficiency and community dignity.

To all the supporters of Orphan’s Promise’s SEED project, both in Chomoni and throughout Ukraine, the Roma community extends their heartfelt gratitude. Through the generosity and dedication of these partners, a brighter tomorrow is being shaped, enabling the community to thrive. Korchi beautifully sums up their appreciation, “So we just want to say thank you for all of you who support our SEED project here in Chomoni, and in all Ukraine. So we are so thankful you are giving us a future. Thank you and God Bless you.”

As we celebrate the impact of the SEED initiative in Ukraine, it is a testament to the profound change that can be brought about when individuals and organizations join hands for a common cause. Orphan’s Promise partners exemplify the true heroes of this story, their support acting as a beacon of hope and empowerment for communities in need.
